Job Description:
Job Summary The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an advanced practice
registered nurse who provides, in collaboration with providers,
comprehensive patient care within the clinical setting. The NP is
responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of
patients with acute and chronic conditions, working collaboratively
with physicians and other members of the healthcare team. The NP
ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care and
promotes optimal patient outcomes. This position works under the
direction of the Supervising Physician (SP) and meets with SP on a
weekly, if not daily, basis to review, reportm and implement forms
of patient care and treatment. Essential Functions Patient
Assessment: - Conducts comprehensive health assessments, including
obtaining detailed medical histories and performing thorough
physical examinations. - Evaluates patients' presenting symptoms,
medical conditions, and psychosocial factors. - Orders and
interpret diagnostic tests, laboratory results, and imaging
studies. Diagnosis and Treatment: - Diagnoses acute and chronic
illnesses, and develop appropriate treatment plans. - Prescribes
medications, treatments, and therapies in accordance with state
regulations and hospital protocols. - Performs necessary
procedures, such as wound care, minor procedures, and other
interventions within the scope of practice. - Manages patients'
responses to treatments and adjust care plans as needed. Care
Management and Coordination: - Collaborates with physicians,
nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated
and comprehensive care. - Coordinates patient care transitions,
including admissions, transfers, and discharges. - Facilitates
communication between patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Refers patients to specialists and other healthcare services as
needed. - Obtains, compiles and records patient medical data within
the scope of practice as identified by the Board of Nurse
Practitioners. Patient Education and Counseling: - Provides patient
and family education on health conditions, treatment options,
preventive care, and self-management strategies. - Counsels
patients on lifestyle modifications, health promotion, and disease
prevention. - Addresses patients' questions and concerns in a clear
and compassionate manner. Documentation and Record Keeping: -
Maintains accurate and complete patient records in the electronic
health record system. - Documents all patient encounters,
assessments, diagnoses, treatments, and plans of care in a timely
and thorough manner. - Ensures compliance with all documentation
requirements and hospital policies. Quality Improvement and
Professional Development: - Participates in quality improvement
initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes. - Stays current
with the latest medical research, evidence-based practices, and
clinical guidelines. - Engages in ongoing professional development
activities to maintain licensure and certification. - Adheres to
ethical and professional standards of practice. Other Duties -
Contributes to the development of new services, programs or
processes. - Participates in departmental and association wide
informational meetings and inservices, including staff meetings,
association wide forums, and seminars. - Reviews department and
association wide policies and procedures annually. Develops and
maintains new policies and procedures as needed. Duties,
responsibilities and activities may change or new ones may be
assigned at any time with or without notice. Abilities - This
position requires strong clinical skills and knowledge of medical
procedures. - This position requires knowledge of general office
equipment (including the nurse call system, telephone system, fax
machine, copy machine, computer, and commonly used hospital
programs). - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. -
Proficiency in the electronic health record (EHR) system. -
Excellent computer, communication, critical thinking, problem
solving, leadership, and interpersonal skills along with basic math
skills and the ability to exercise independent judgment. - This
position also requires knowledge of hospital equipment and
programs, including all Hospital Information Systems and department
specific equipment. - Must read, write, speak, and understand

lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force
frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move
objects. The worker is exposed to contact with chemicals and
infectious fluids, heavy lifting, constant standing, extensive
close work, and extensive computer work. Required Education and
Experience - Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Arizona Registered Nurse license. - Nurse Practitioner national
certification. - ACLS (within 30 days of hire). - CPR/BLS (within
30 days of hire). OSHA Exposure Category: Involves exposure to
blood, body fluids, or tissues. This is a safety sensitive
position.
