Description of PositionHiring range: $44,047 - $60,229Reporting to the Division Dean, the incumbent will teach discipline specific courses as needed using a variety of methodologies. Responsibilities will include course preparation and instruction; curriculum development; participation in the college community and continued professional growth activities; and creative program building based on needs assessment and in collaboration with other faculty. May be asked to teach other courses in disciplines in which she/he is able to be credentialed.Besides traditional class structuring, the College is also attempting to meet the varying needs of our students by offering weekend, year-round, and compressed courses of instruction and services. Since service to our students is our highest priority, instructors can expect to participate in innovative methods and assignments may be multi-campus with the possibility of interactive, online, day, evening and/or weekend classes.The general expectation is that full-time faculty serve as provisional faculty for a period of three years prior to being reviewed for continuing status. The determination of faculty status is, however, ultimately at the discretion of the Yavapai College District Governing Board and the College President, as the Board's designee.Minimum Expectations & RequirementsFaculty teaching general education or other non-occupational courses that transfer, typically hold a Master's degree or higher in the discipline or subfield. If a faculty member holds a Master's degree or higher in a discipline or subfield other than what he or she is teaching, that faculty member should have completed a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline or subfield in which they teach. (HLC Policy Adopted June 2015).The faculty filling this position must be qualified to teach Allied Health, Science, and EMS courses.Allied Health: Bachelor's degree or Master's degree (preferred) in a related field. Must meet requirements established by regulatory and accrediting agencies.Science: Master's degree or higher in the scientific discipline to be taught; or Master' s degree plus 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline to be taught.EMS:Emergency Medical Services Lead Instructor must:* Possess a minimum of an Associate degree (Bachelor's by Jan 2020),* Professional healthcare credential(s) in related EMS fields,* Experience in emergency medicine/pre-hospital care,* Have completed 24 hours of training related to instructional methodology,* Have adult teaching experience to deliver content, skills instruction, and remediation.Emergency Medical Services Faculty/Instructional Staff Qualifications:* Professional healthcare credential(s) at or above the level they are instructing,* Possess a minimum of an Associate degree in a related field,* Faculty must be knowledgeable in course content and effective in teaching their assigned subjects, and capable through academic preparation, training and experience to teach the courses or topics to which they are assigned,* Faculty must be certified by a nationally recognized certifying organization at an equal or higher level of professional training than the Emergency Medical Services Profession(s) for which training is being offered.In addition:* Possess the ability to interact effectively and professionally with other faculty, students and staff.* Possess a high degree of integrity and commitment to comply with policies, procedures, regulations and approved curriculum.* Must be organized, detail oriented and able to multi-task.* Dedication and enthusiasm for healthcare education.* Ability to work and communicate effectively and respectfully with diverse students, staff, faculty and clinical site staff.* Ability to work independently and supervise others.* Ability to perform and prioritize tasks with limited supervision.* Current clinical knowledge and maintenance of clinical skills.* Strong commitment to student successPlease attach all unofficial transcripts to complete the application process.Preferred Skills & Abilities* Experience training, mentoring, and advising students* Familiarity with Canvas Course Learning Management System* Application of a variety of teaching methodologies* Previous experience in curriculum development* Experience with simulations* Experience of teaching excellence at the post-secondary and secondary levels* Active participation in professional organizations* Record of scholarly and/or creative activities* Two years of previous experience teaching* Knowledge of instructional delivery, the elements of effective teaching and learning, and the principles of adult education* Community college teaching experience* Experience with multi-media technology to enhance student learning* Experience with online and/or blended/hybrid instruction* Experience working with culturally diverse populations* Ability to teach other courses as neededEssential FunctionsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
