Dispensing OpticianPay based on experience and licensureI.
Position Description - Dispensing Opticians assist patients in
retail optical purchases (glasses and/or contact lenses),
adjustments and repairs.II. Minimal Qualifications - High School
Diploma - Must be 18 years of age or older - Must be able to lift
up to twenty-five (25) pounds - A.B.O. certification, NCLEX and/or
Arizona State Board of Dispensing Opticians License preferredIII.
Accountability - Reports to the Optical ManagerIV. Job
Responsibilities - Responsible for effective telephone
communications between the community and Rummel Optical -
Responsible for record keeping, accounting, sales, work order
placement, and customer service - Responsible for examining written
prescriptions to determine the specifications of a lens -
Responsible for recommending eyeglass frames, lenses, and lens
coatings after considering the prescription and the customer's
occupation, habits, and facial features - Responsible for measuring
the patient's eyes, including the distance between the centers of
the pupils and the distance between the ocular surface and the lens
- Prepares orders, paperwork, etc. in such a fashion that results
in accurate orders, no remakes and satisfied patients - Offers
patients information on lenses, coatings, sunglasses, multiple pair
discounts, etc. - Calls patients to pick up eyewear/replacement
contact lenses - Reviews warranties, return policies, etc. with
patients - Responsible for verifying that the lenses have been
ground to specifications - Responsible for reshaping or bending the
frame, by hand or using pliers, so that the eyeglasses fit the
customer properly and comfortably and to the patient's satisfaction
- Responsible for fixing, adjusting and refitting broken or
ill-fitting frames - Responsible for instructing patients about
adapting to, wearing, or caring for eyeglasses - Dispenses
eyewear/replacement contact lenses to patients - Orders and stocks
supplies as needed, according to Rummel Optical's guidelines and as
approved by the optical manager - Responsible for instruction
patients about adapting to, wearing, or caring for contact lenses -
Responsible for cleaning eyewear and eyewear displays on a regular
basis - Responsible for posting charges to a patient's ledger and
accepting payment - Assists in other assignments as requested by
supervisor - Attends in-services and staff meetings - Stays current
of optical plans being offered in the area - Makes sure the optical
department is opened on time and closed after all patients are seen
- Posts sales daily and in a complete manner - all monies to be
balanced daily - Conforms to all company policies and procedures
including punctuality, attendance, and dress codes - Takes pride
and ownership in success and image of Rummel Optical - Demonstrates
initiative in accomplishing practice goals - Understands and
supports Rummel Optical objectives and goals - Responsible for
cleaning duties on specified days, which vary per officeV. Minimum
Background Requirements - Position requires patient, physician, and
vendor contact; therefore, the individual must exhibit pleasant
manners, be professional in conduct, have the ability to listen and
represent Rummel Optical standards of high efficiency and decorum -
Position requires accuracy; thoroughness, willingness and systems
of communication needed to assist coworkers and physiciansVI.
