Professional Standards Board will determine the grade assignment of
a selected candidate. Registered Nurses will be assigned to interested facilities
throughout the VHA in support of COVID-19 operations and may be
permanently or temporarily appointed on an intermittent, part-time
or full-time schedule. The Registered Nurse practices in a complex
patient care setting in collaboration with interdisciplinary
colleagues and the department nurse/unit manager. The primary
responsibilities of this Registered Nurse may vary by assignment.
Those duties may include but are not limited to: Work Schedule: A variety of work schedules are available; work
schedule will be determined upon selection. NOTE: May be expected
to work rotating weekends and holidays. Pay Schedule: The salary range listed in this announcement is a
Base-Line Salary for a full-time work schedule. Starting salary
will be set based on locality (which may include a special pay rate
depending upon location), as well as FT, PT or Intermittent
employment. Recruitment/Relocation Incentive: Certain locations are deemed
as 'Hard to Fill' and 'may' offer Recruitment Incentives, but such
an Incentive is not guaranteed. certification/licensure requirements may be referred and
tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements
are met. Basic Requirements: Grade Determinations: The following criteria must be met in
determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate,
the level within a grade: Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part
II, Appendix G-6 Nurse Qualification Standard. This can be found in
the local Human Resources Office. Physical Requirements: This position requires visual acuity,
keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This
position requires potentially long periods of continued walking,
standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing.
Transferring patients and objects may be required. Mechanical
inpatient lifts are provided. The incumbent may be exposed to
infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to
don protective clothing in isolation situations, operative/invasive
procedures, or home settings. The incumbent may occasionally be
exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium,
dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature,
flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in
stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient
needs. Must complete annual Employee Health requirements, such as
annual TB screening or testing, as a condition of employment. The
incumbent who provides care in home settings or other off-site
locations may be required to drive and/or ride in GSA-vehicles. Education Applicants pending the completion of educational or
certification/licensure requirements may be referred and
tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements

Health Professional Trainees (HPT) only. HPT is an individual
appointed to temporary positions in one or more VHA medical
