Job SummaryThe PBX Operator supports the vision of the Total Healing Environment and the values of respect, integrity, accountability, commitment and quality answering all incoming call and routing them accurately. Assists with outgoing calls and monitors all alarms throughout the hospital. Registers patients for emergency, inpatient and/or outpatient services. Pre-registers patients for services.Job QualificationsRequired Qualifications:

• High School graduate or GED
• One year of multi-line telephone system experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology or successful completion of medical terminology course (in YRMC LMS system) within six months of hire
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing providing excellent customer service
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities/tasks simultaneously in a fast paced environment
• Ability to keep focused during time of crisis
• Basic computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft WindowsPreferred Qualifications:
  • Previous healthcare experience strongly preferred
