The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) functions as a member of the team assigned. Observes for and reports physiological and/or psychological deviations in acutely or chronically ill patients. Incumbent demonstrates basic knowledge in nursing care procedures and basic care of the acutely ill and chronic patients. Charts pertinent data regarding the patient's condition such as progress of patient's condition, procedures performed, and medications given. Interviews patients to obtain information and/or communicate data regarding the patient. Incumbent initiates patient teaching regarding procedures, tests, medications, specimen collection, ambulatory aides, or care to be delivered in the hospital or at home. Identifies educational needs of patients and reinforces education that the patient has received. Recognizes medical and/or surgical emergencies and initiates appropriate response. Assesses the need for Immunizations and administers ordered medication.Work Schedule: Full-Time, VariesFinancial Disclosure Report: Not requiredBASIC REQUIREMENTS:CITIZENSHIP: Must be a U.S. Citizen.EDUCATION: Graduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the appropriate State agency and/or accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) at the time the program was completed by the applicant.
