Therapist (OT) Overview: The Registered Occupational Therapist
delivers direct rehabilitation services to patients in skilled
nursing environments, aiding in their recovery and enhancing their
quality of life. This position requires collaboration with
interdisciplinary teams, management of treatment plans, and
adherence to healthcare regulations. Applicants must hold a valid
license, be certified by NBCOT, and possess experience in
post-acute care settings, along with strong communication and
patient care abilities. Environment & Patient Demographics Our
facilities function as Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) that
offer: Long-term care for residents needing continuous skilled
support and compassionate daily assistance. Short-term, sub-acute
rehabilitation for individuals recovering from surgery, illness, or
injury. Collaborative care through a team-oriented approach
involving nursing, therapy, and medical staff working in unison. A
varied patient demographic that includes those with orthopedic,
neurological, cardiopulmonary, and post-acute needs. The mix of
patients may vary slightly by location. As a therapy professional,
you will play a crucial role in helping patients achieve functional
improvements and enhance their quality of life in a supportive,
patient-focused setting. Position Overview The Occupational
Therapist provides direct rehabilitation services in occupational
therapy to patients referred by physicians, in compliance with all
relevant laws, regulations, and organizational standards.
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements NBCOT
certification required upon hiring, with renewal being optional
thereafter. Graduation from an accredited occupational therapy
program (BSOT or MSOT). Current registration/licensure in the
applicable state, with the requirement to maintain an active
license in good standing throughout employment. Preferred one (1)
year of experience in post-acute care or a related field. CPR
certification required upon hiring or to be obtained during
orientation, with the necessity to keep it current throughout
employment. Specific Job Responsibilities Engage in community
health initiatives/projects as appropriate. Proficient in Microsoft
Word, Excel, and email communication. Coordinate with patients,
families, and support departments to effectively address patient
needs. Exhibit proper body mechanics at all times. Make independent
decisions when necessary. Familiar with practices, procedures, and
regulations governing operations in post-acute care facilities.
Implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives,
policies, and procedures. Demonstrate proficiency in all competency
areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation. Maintain
professional relationships with colleagues, vendors, and others.
Ensure confidentiality of all proprietary and sensitive
information. Adhere to organizational policies, including those
related to harassment and compliance. Exhibit integrity and
professionalism by following the organization’s Code of Conduct and
completing required compliance training. Essential Functions
Implement occupational treatment plans for patients (e.g.,
activities of daily living). Set, evaluate, and adjust realistic,
measurable, timely, and functional goals. Supervise and assess care
provided by OTAs, Rehab Aides, and students. Document care
accurately and in a timely manner. Utilize therapy software
effectively and accurately. Provide excellent customer service and
maintain a positive attitude towards patients. Assist in the safe
evacuation of patients when necessary. Demonstrate reliable and
regular attendance. Employ reasoning skills and sound judgment in
decision-making. Communicate effectively and work collaboratively
within an interdisciplinary team. Engage in physical activities
such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling,
stooping, walking, reaching, and moving intermittently during work
hours. Read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language. An
