Job Description Job Description An appliance technician is
responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing residential
and or commercial appliances such as refrigerators, dishwashers,
ovens, washers, dryers. Key responsibilities typically include:
Diagnosing breakdowns and faults in appliances and identifying the
cause. Performing maintenance and preventive checks to ensure
appliances operate efficiently. Repairing or replacing defective
parts, such as motors, switches, thermostats, and electronic
components. Installing new appliances and ensuring correct
functioning. Advising managers and tenants on proper appliance use
and future maintenance needs. Managing paperwork for billing,
invoicing, and documenting repairs and services performed.
Maintaining inventory of necessary parts and tools and ordering
replacements as needed. Staying updated on new models,
technologies, and safety standards in the appliance industry.
Delivering effective customer service and clear communication
regarding repairs and maintenance. Typical requirements for the
role: High school diploma or GED Technical or vocational training
in appliance repair (postsecondary training preferred) Relevant
certifications, e.g., National Appliance Service Technician
Certification (NASTeC) Manual dexterity and ability to lift heavy
equipment Strong diagnostic, problem-solving, and technical skills
Excellent communication and customer service abilities Ability to
work independently or as part of a team, sometimes traveling to job
sites Appliance technicians play a vital role in ensuring safe,
functional, and reliable operation of essential appliances in homes
and businesses.
