Project Accountant – Construction Phoenix, AZ (Preferred) Kelso Southwest (A Kelso Industries Company) Key Job Duties Own the financial lifecycle of assigned construction projects from setup through closeout. Review contracts and ensure accurate project setup within ERP systems. Partner directly with Project Managers to build and maintain Schedules of Values (SOV). Monitor job costs, committed costs, and change orders to ensure financial accuracy. Prepare and submit monthly progress billings and supporting documentation. Track receivables and support collections efforts to improve cash flow. Perform monthly cost-to-complete (CTC) analysis and support revenue recognition under ASC 606. Analyze margin movement and identify potential gain/fade risks. Lead or support monthly forecast reviews with PMs. Provide proactive financial insight to operations leadership. Uphold company financial policies while maintaining strong working relationships with field teams. Help develop and improve processes as Kelso Southwest continues to scale. Maintain clear, organized documentation and audit-ready project files. Act as a service-oriented resource to internal and external stakeholders. Qualifications 4 years of construction industry project accounting experience. Strong working knowledge of Percentage of Completion (POC) / ASC 606 revenue recognition. Demonstrated experience partnering with Project Managers and operations teams. Experience managing multiple active projects simultaneously. Strong understanding of job cost accounting and forecasting methodologies. Ability to analyze financial data and translate it into actionable insights. Professional communication skills with high emotional intelligence. Ability to influence and guide without being rigid or confrontational. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems (NetSuite experience preferred). Stable work history with demonstrated growth and increasing responsibility. Experience within mechanical, HVAC, building automation, electrical, or specialty subcontractor environments preferred. Why Join Kelso Industries?
